New Career, Same Place, Exciting Times!!

It has been a slow year for blogging this year, so it is time to start it back up!  I want to start off with a career update.  VMworld 2017 was an eye-opening experience for me.  I finally saw the paradigm shift that so many have talked about over the years, Public Cloud.  At that point I started down the path of really trying to learn Public Cloud and DevOps.  Started diving into AWS and Automation.

For 10 years I was an engineer around Storage, VMware, Backups, Disaster Recovery, etc… Now, 1 year after my VMworld experience, I am a Public Cloud Architect!  It is a big change, but a change that was necessary for many reasons.  My goal now with this blog is to help engineers with the same career challenges, make the transition to Public Cloud and Automation.  I also plan on diving into AWS with posts on solutions that I am building to help customers.  Going forward this blog will be all Cloud!!

Next Chapter – World Wide Technology

On 12/5 I began my role as Delivery Engineer at World Wide Technology.  I am very excited and humbled to be part of WWT.  I will continue to implement DellEMC Storage Technologies and will continue to branch out into the Data Protection space.  This is a great Opportunity and I look forward for what is to come.

New Beginnings at RoundTower Technologies!

On 8/8 I took the position of Senior Systems Engineer at RoundTower Technologies.  I will continue implementing storage solutions as well as adding new skills involving Isilon, Data Protection, and getting into the full Data Center stack.

I look forward to what RoundTower has to bring in the area that I have grown my career, The Carolina’s.  On this day EMC is referring to “A New Dawn” I wanted to share this information.

My blog will pick back up with more Unity as well as some new categories like Unisphere Central and Isilon.  I will also be attending Dell World in October and look forward to sharing my thoughts there as well.

EMC World 2016!!!

For the first time in my Career I will be attending EMC World!!  This is something that I have been looking forward to for a long time and can’t wait to arrive tomorrow.  Being part of EMC Elect adds to the value of the Conference with some insider events as well as some super cool activities.  Below is my tentative schedule that looks to be jammed packed full of sessions and events.  I plan on posting daily blogs and maybe even a blog per session. EMC Elect 2015

Today I was selected to be part of the EMC Elect Community.  I consider this to be a great honor and a privilege.  The goal of this blog is to spread knowledge, help out the community and to inform.  My main areas of focus rely mostly in the Datacenter.  I am beginning to branch out into the cloud and the Hyper Converged Space and hope to add that area as well.

Current Focus:

  • Storage
    • VNX
    • XtremIO
    • MDS
  • Data Protection
    • RecoverPoint
    • Hyper Visor based replication (RPforVMs and vSphere Replication)
    • VMware SRM

Future Focus:

  • Hyper Converged
    • VSPEX Blue
  • Cloud and Automation Technologies
    • EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud
    • ViPER
    • vRealize Suite

Thanks to the EMC Elect for selecting me to the 2015 club!

The purpose of this blog is for me to share my experiences with the many technologies that I have worked with in the past or currently working with in my everyday life.  I will be posting “How to” install documents in order to help out fellow Engineers in the field.  I have no biased towards any particular technology, only the ones that work and work well.  One of the great things about technology is that it can make everyday life easier.  I consider myself more of a Datacenter person more or less because of VMware and SAN technology.

I currently work for a VAR (Value Added Reseller) that is an EMC, Cisco, VMware and Citrix partner as well as a few other technologies.  I am currently a VCP5-DCA working towards a VCAP as well as working toward an EMCIE Specialist in Recover Point and VNX.
